Migraines From Artificial Sweeteners

by Rosemary

Visitor Sucralose Question:

I get migraines from sweet n low, aspartame....etc. I just started on a diet with Dr's Quick Weight Loss and I noticed some products have sucralose in it. I am afraid to try it ( I did tell the clinic I was "allergic" to artificial sweeteners) Should I attempt to try them?

Healthy Choices 4 Life Response:

Sucralose is a chemically altered chlorine enhanced sugar. In other words, it's not a natural substance so you're wise to be cautious about consuming it. I don't know if you will have a reaction or not.

If the clinic didn't give you any alternatives when you advised that you were allergic to artificial sweeteners, you may want to seek out another program that offers more natural foods. Check out the "Resources" page on this website for other programs.

Another option would be to use Stevia or Xylitol, they are more natural sweeteners that are quite satisfying. You can sprinkle them on cereal or fruit or even bake with them. Hope that helps.

Good luck to you!
